Component Description
Platform/Deck The work area with toe guards and a safety gate. It must have a slip-resistant surface.
Scissor Arms Made of high-strength steel plates. They are the primary load-bearing structure.
Hydraulic Cylinder(s) The muscle of the lift. Converts fluid pressure into linear force to extend the arms.
Electric Motor & Pump The power unit that creates the hydraulic pressure.
Battery Pack Provides power for the motor and drive system. Often located in the chassis.
Chassis/Base The lower frame that contains the wheels, drive motors, and batteries. Provides stability.
Control Box Houses the electronics for interpreting user input and controlling the lift's functions.
Pothole Protection (Critical Safety Feature) Automatic arms that drop down to prevent the lift from descending if a wheel is over a hole or drop-off.
Emergency Descent System A manual, backup system (usually a hand pump or valve) to lower the platform in case of power failure.
