Vacuum Lifter Critical Safety Guidelines
Using a vacuum lifter incorrectly can lead to catastrophic failure and serious injury. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Inspect Before Every Use: Check the suction pads for cracks, cuts, or excessive wear. Inspect hoses, pumps, and valves for damage or leaks.
Surface Check: The lifting surface must be clean, dry, smooth, and free of cracks, oil, or dust. They cannot be used on porous surfaces like concrete or unfinished wood.
Know the Weight: NEVER exceed the lifter's maximum load capacity. Factor in the weight of the glass (glass is heavy: ~2.5 kg/m² per mm of thickness).
Check Vacuum Pressure: Ensure the pump has created sufficient vacuum and that the gauge (if equipped) shows a safe level. Many modern lifters have an audible alarm that sounds if vacuum is lost.
Lift Correctly: Use proper lifting techniques. Keep your back straight and lift with your legs.
Clear Path: Ensure your path is clear of obstacles before lifting.
Wear PPE: Always wear cut-resistant gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots.
